About Me- Story Behind My Practice
Background
My experience as a therapist has enabled me to make positive changes in people’s lives and I am privileged to be a part of that journey. I have worked with adults, children, adolescents, and families and counseled them on a variety of different issues including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, self-harm, grief/loss, sexual abuse, PTSD, panic attacks, substance abuse, and LGBTQ+ related issues. I provide clients with a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment that helps them grow and heal from the challenges that they are facing.
In the past I have had the pleasure to work for several non-profit agencies located in the Los Angeles and Orange County surrounding areas. In 2016 I was given the opportunity to expand my career and start working with clients in a more intimate, private setting. From there I started my own practice and grew an even more deeper passion for providing a holistic, client-centered approach that would enable life-style changes for my clients.
Education
I first began my studies at Brandman University where I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology. Inspired with a thirst to learn more and improve my clinical skills I went on to continue my education at California State University, Northridge where earned my Masters of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
During graduate school I was able to undergo extensive training in psychodynamic therapy. This form of in-depth counseling originated from the field of psychoanalysis- which focuses on helping clients understand the subconscious roots behind their emotional suffering. It utilizes self reflection and the therapist’s interpretations to help clients gain more insight and knowledge into their problematic life patterns.
In the future I plan to continue my education and knowledge in the field as I believe it’s important to have ongoing personal growth and development.
